Day 97: American Gods

Interesting Post. Thanks.

Soo Nathan

I’ve mentioned my fancy for folklore before, how there is much to be learned about a culture from the old stories they tell. This book pandered directly to that fancy. Seriously, I knew most of the gods who appeared as characters in this as well as their tales, so I could enjoy it all the better.

That aside…

There have been many books written about America and the immigrant experience and this is another one of them, but seen through a whole new lens. It takes the concepts of immigration, of incarnations, the definition of faith, and how stories technically only ever exist so long as they are told. Stop telling a story, give it time, and it will be forgotten. They will have existed in a time long past, but no more in the present, where there is no one to remember that they are real.

“Emotions are very good at activating thoughts,
but thoughts are not very good at controlling emotions.

Since my Sleep Awareness post somehow jumped the queue and was posted at the same time as Part-1 of this article, I decided to wait a bit to give readers a shot at catching up.  Again, my apologies for seeming to inundate with info – it was not intentional.

This Part may seem long, but much of the first half is review — so those of you who read Part-1 will be able to skim through it quickly.

PTSD can present in a variety of ways, with more than a few symptoms in common with depression, in…

Trick of the Trade: How to give tablets to your cat? (in a reasonably painless manner…) Version 2

Very Informative and Interesting Post.

The Purrfect Job

Some time ago, I have done a post on how to give tablets to your cat in a reasonably painless manner.

That method works with nearly 90% of the cats I know (not a scientific statistics, just a matter of speech!)

However, as you all know, cats are some of the most unpredictable animal on earth, of course there will be some cats who don’t like that method.

So I have developed Version 2 of this method!

Here is a photo demonstration:

Step 1 – Buy a block of cheese. It doesn’t have to be this brand.

Step 2 – Cut up a little corner of cheese

Step 3 – Prepare the tablet

Step 4 – Poke a hole in the piece of cheese

Step 5 – Put tablet into the hole

Step 6 – Roll the cheese into a ball so that the tablet is in the middle…

DEER

Deer like most animals~Like to eat~In Fact if you feed Deer, you will probably not only end up feeding the Deer~But you will end up~Feeding other animals too.~When you Feed Deer~The Deer will eventually get to know you~And become Friendly to the Place~Where you can almost walk up to them.~Always remember,~Deer are still wild Animals~And still have instincts~That were born right in them~So always be careful~No Matter what~And to make it more interesting~You might want to get a Game Camera to Watch the Deer~And what else might come along.

July 2017 Mental Health Awareness

A very Good and Informative Post. Please Read and share your thoughts.

Special days & weeks in July

July is Fire Cracker Month in America

Please be aware that many vets will have flashbacks triggered by those noisy explosions that you think are harmless fun.

If ALL you want is to make a bunch of noise, please think again – or, at least, confine them to ONE DAY – July 4th, when many vets with PTSD go away.

Addendum from a comment from Ray’s dad Colin:

Pet owners will also really appreciate fireworks being restricted to that one celebration day. They can then plan their pet’s outdoor time accordingly. In advance… many thanks to all those who do limit their celebrations to July 4, and are respectful and sympathetic to vets……
