I wrote a short poem about my dog Shandar who died. I called it A TRIBUTE TO SHANDAR.
Shandar~You came into our lives as an Alaskan Malamute puppy dog~Your dad was a champion and a Kal-Kan dog~You were the runt of the litter~You were a possible show dog~And not Expected to get as big as you got. ~ You took us for walks~You pounced on our beds and Pillows ~Chewed blankets ~ But all in all~You were a dog with a good disposition.
Shandar~You will be sadly missed but not forgotten~ You are forever in our hearts and Always be.~ Thank you for the many years of love and being our pet.~They were not only joyous~But they were also a blessing.

Hello Everyone, It’s Daisy Mae and I thought I’d update you on what’s been happening to my Sister(Crystal) and myself these last few days. These last few days have been well traumatic for the both of us.
On Friday October 11, 2017 in the evening is when things all started and literally went haywire for my sister, Crystal. You see she was on her computer and needed to charge it and when she went to charge it, it wouldn’t charge and the cord wouldn’t even stay in. She took it to Staples the next day and found out the damage was worse than she thought. As it turns out where you charge the computer in that hole was pushed back at least 1/4 of an inch and the Motherboard on the computer had gone. The Associates said because it cost so much to get fixed it would be best to get a brand new computer so that’s what my wonderful Sister, Crystal did. Crystal was without a computer for a few days while they transferred and got things set up.
On Monday October 12, 2017 I had to go to that bad vet for a follow-up check-up. My owners put me in this pet carrier which I absolutely hated and what happens when went around the corner of the receptionist’s desk, the carrier fell apart with me in it. Not good. Daddy held me and cuddled me until I had to go back in the carrier again but he didn’t carry it by the handle like before. My follow-up check-up went well and no infections found. That was my Experience at the vet.
The day didn’t get better either because the place that transferred Crystal’s files she discovered some of them were transferred in Word and can’t be open without Office. She wasn’t happy. If there is anyone that knows how to change out of word please let her know. She did what any normal human would do and called the computer place for help and they refused to give the help. Told her to call Microsoft and she did that twice and got nowhere. She got the run-a-round and didn’t get a solution to her problem.
So once again if anyone knows how to switch out of word so she can open her files please let her know.
Then to end yesterday, right after supper the internet goes out until morning. She tried a little trick her provider told her and it helped.

Mom wanted to remember Tigger and this is what she wanted to say: Tigger, you were taken from us 2 years ago today and we miss you everyday. It was a bittersweet day. Bitter because you passed away and sweet because you didn’t have to suffer anymore.
Before you passed away, you were agile so you played, jumped up on things, layed on our laps and was always under our feet. You were such a loving kitty cat despite your kittyhood. We got you as an adult and I’m glad we did. we rescued you out of a bad situation and we loved you very much. I’m so glad you finally came to make nice with Dad.

A POEM CALLED “You are the apple of God’s eye” WAS GIVEN TO ME BY MY PARENTS. THIS POEM IS BY A UNKNOWN AUTHOR.
When I went to Clarion University Of Pennsylvania almost 24 years ago, something really big and incredible happened other than graduation. It was a highlight in my college life and lifetime I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Maybe because it was encouraging to meet someone famous that was not only minority but she was black and really had to work at what she got. I was encouraged by this and it made me want to pursue my dreams and not be a quitter. The woman’s name was none other than Maya Angelou.
Meeting Maya Angelou was not only inspiring but exciting too. Before meeting Maya Angelou, I was determined to reach my goals but after meeting Maya Angelou and hearing her story, I was even more determined. Also, it was nice to hear that you weren’t alone and that other people had either the same concerns or similar concerns.
After meeting Maya Angelou, I went through a phase of writing poems. I even had some of them published in a book with other people’s poems from the college.
I would like to tell you a little bit about Maya Angelou and if you read below, you will see a brief synopsis of who Maya Angelou is and what she has done.
Maya Angelou was an “American Poet, memoirist and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees. Angelou is best known for her series of seven autobiographies, which focus on her childhood and early adult experiences. The first, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, tells of her life up to the age of 17 and brought her international recognition and acclaim.”
Maya Angelou had several poems and quotes. I’ve read some of the quotes and they’re quite good. Some of her quotes are quite encouraging.
In my opinion, when you smile you encourage someone and that will not only help them but also help you. A smile goes a long way in encouraging someone and lifting someone’s spirits. Not to mention, a smile is contagious so it will help you and help the people who are around you. So Smile.
Meeting Maya Angelou encouraged me to continue to be determined, ambitious, not be a quitter and to pursue my dreams when people tell me I can’t do something.
I encourage everyone to continue to be determined, to be ambitious, not to be a quitter and to pursue your dreams and not quit when things get rough. Remember, it’s just a stepping stone and teaching tool when things get rough and there will be times it will get rough.
When things get rough and you need a friend to talk to, try talking to your cat and if you don’t have a cat talk to your pet. It might sound crazy but it helps and they don’t talk back. Also, if you don’t have a pet to talk to, talking to a stuffed animal helps too. So pick yourself up and continue doing what you’re doing. You’ll eventually finish what you started. I know I did and I eventually reached some of my goals.
I could say meeting Maya Angelou was a dream come true but the truth is, my only dreams and goals at the time was graduating from college. Meeting Maya Angelou was just a way to make me more determined to reach my goals what ever they may be.
I think a good way to end this post is with some Maya Angelou quotes. Below are some quotes by Maya Angelou and they are:
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
“If you have only one smile today in you, give it to the people you love. Don’t be grumpy at home, then go out in the street and start “Good Morning” at total strangers.”
“A SMILE IS THE PRETTIEST THING YOU CAN WEAR”
If you think about the above quotes, they all ring true one way or another. Also if you think you’re having a bad day, there is probably someone out there who is having a worse day than you. So stop having pity parties for yourself and stop moping around because there will always be someone having a worse day than you.
I’m not saying you can’t have a good cry when something doesn’t turn out the way you had planned, a good rant when you get angry and even vent when you have things bottled up inside you. Actually, sometimes it ‘s good to talk or vent because once you do, you will feel so much better.

I just wanted to tell you all about the update. Thanks.
Writing this blog brings back so many memories for me and hope it does for you too. When I graduated, it was in May mostly. You see my graduation ceremonies went something like this: Elementary School or K-6(No Graduation Ceremony), Highshool(A May Graduation), A 2 Year College(Got My Diploma In December of 1989 and went to the graduation ceremony in May) but could have skipped the May graduation ceremony in May since I already had my diploma. I felt since I worked so hard to accomplished a diploma, I wanted to go through the graduation ceremony. I also had a 4 Year College(A May Graduation). It may have been a lot of work but was well worth it.
Graduation is a time for every student to reflect back on what they’ve worked for and to be proud of what they accomplished whether they ended up graduating with honors or not. Also, most students celebrate by having a graduation party in May or early April.
The following is only one memory of my graduation and there are more memories also but memory listed below is a memory that stood out to me.
I know I was excited and proud of what I accomplished. I think I felt this way because I had people tell me I couldn’t accomplish going to college and when I went to a 4 year college, I had professors telling me I couldn’t do it. However, I have to give the one professor credit because he eventually came back and told me he was proud of what I accomplished.
So whether you’ve graduated or are about to graduate, remember graduation is a time to look forward to and to celebrate what you’ve worked so hard to accomplish-a diploma and/or a degree. You’ll also find it a time to decide what college you’re going to or decide if you’re going on for a graduate degree.

I would like to write about Daisy Mae’s kittyhood: Part 2. If you you’re thinking that you need a part 1 to have a part 2 then you would be right. If you’re asking yourself, when did you write part 1. It was on January 30, 2017 when I wrote part 1 of Daisy Mae’s kittyhood. The Title of Daisy Mae’s Kittyhood: Part 1 is called TIGGER AND DAISY MAE.
Daisy Mae is in the second part of her kittyhood now. Daisy Mae is almost 11 years old now and boy has she grown. She’s an indoor cat and queen of the household. Daisy Mae is a cat who is loved and spoiled rotten. My late grandmother always said there is spoiled good and spoiled bad and your spoiled good. Of course she was talking about children. But it works for cats too. Spoiled good means you do not get everything handed to you or get everything you want and spoiled bad means that you get everything handed to you and/or everything you want. Daisy Mae doesn’t get everything she wants but she thinks should. Then what cat doesn’t.
Daisy Mae’s kittyhood has been filled by playing string or pole, sleeping in the sunbeams, finding her favorite spots and sleeping some more. She really likes conning her dad into giving her treats instead of getting them herself. She also likes exploring. Like I said, she’s a spoiled cat. But that’s OK. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We even bought a decoration to hang on the wall that says: A Spoiled Rotten Cat Lives Here.
Daisy Mae is really like most cats even though she’s an indoor cat exclusively. She still has the urge to explore, the urge to go outside especially on nice days.
In Daisy Mae’s younger days when she was smaller and skinnier, she was able to go places in our house you would never imagine she would go. For example, one time she went exploring in our basement and went into a hole she found. However there was just one problem, she was able to go into the hole in the wall but couldn’t get turned around to escape. What did she do? She meowed at the top of her lungs and was happy when Daddy helped her escape. Come to think of it, Daisy Mae’s Daddy helped her escape from a lot of situations she got into.
Daisy Mae is Spayed. Spaying and Neutering is a subject I think should be mentioned because if it isn’t and people ignore the subject, we will have unwanted cats that aren’t taken care but left to run or worse they’re abandoned.
Cats that are left to run or if they’re abandoned, will eventually find a male cat, have sex then have kittens. Kittens are cute but when you need to find a home for kittens that you need to find a home for, it isn’t easy. You would think these places that say they will take kittens in an emergency would take them with no problem. I can tell you from experience this isn’t true. We called several places and they refused us or they would say if you pay this you can drop them off. My neighbor ran into the same problem. My Dad took care of our problem by taking them somewhere else. However, the result of my neighbor’s problem didn’t end happy sad to say. The same mean dogs that bit me killed all of the kittens. If the animal places would’ve just taken the kittens in this might not of happened.
Spaying and Neutering in my opinion is something that pet owners should do. In not only helps the owner but helps keep the pet population down which is what we need to do.
I hope it will be a while before I have to write part 3 of Daisy Mae’s Kittyhood. It won’t be easy to write.

In my opinion, when we celebrate Easter we normally celebrate by talking about the Easter Bunny a lot more than the real reason why we should celebrate Easter. What is the real reason we celebrate Easter? The answer to that question is the Resurrection of Christ.
However, if you wish to celebrate by talking about the Easter Bunny that’s ok just don’t overdo it.
One year on Easter Sunday, I went with my Mom and Dad up to my sister’s church and the children’s sermon proved to be interesting. Let Me try to explain. The pastor explained to the young children that when we celebrate Easter, we can celebrate both the Easter Bunny and the Resurrection of Christ when we celebrate Easter. He did it in two parts, the first part was about the Easter Bunny and the second part was on the Resurrection of Christ.
The pastor explained to the kids that they could celebrate and have fun finding their Easter baskets the Easter Bunny left them but be sure to remember the real reason we’re celebrating and that is the Resurrection of Christ. He also reminded the children when they talked about the Easter Bunny to overdo it. What a children’s sermon.
If you have kids of your own, always remember there is nothing wrong with letting them hear a little bit about the Easter Bunny or letting them find baskets that the Easter Bunny brought them. Just find some way to incorporate the story and meaning of the Resurrection of Christ.

There is an expression that we have heard of and it is “Every cloud has a silver lining.” The meaning and origin of this phrase is as follows:
The Meaning
“Every bad situation has some good aspect to it. “This proverb is usually said as an encouragement to a person who is overcome by some difficulty and is unable to see any positive way forward.”
Origin
“John Milton coined the phrase ‘silver lining’ in Comus: A Mask Presented at Ludlow Castle, 1634”
“I see ye visibly, and now believe
That he, The Supreme Good, to whom all things
ill
Are but as slavish officers of vengeance
Would send a glistering guardian, if need were
To keep my life and honour unassailed
Was I deceived, or did a sable cloud

In my opinion, this saying is true. You see there really is a silver lining to every cloud and a lot of times we might not see the silver lining right away but for every cloud there will be a silver lining. Some examples of this saying are as follows:
Someone tells we can’t accomplish something
We might not accomplish what we want to do right away but the silver lining here it will be accomplished in the future.
We suffer the loss of a loved one and/or friend
It’s hard to find a silver lining here but there is one. It will take some time before we see it but the silver lining will eventually show up.
Becoming unemployed
If you ever been unemployed then you know it’s no fun. The silver lining here is you will get another job, retire or better yet start your own business.
Being Single
It’s hard to see the silver lining here especially if you’ve been single for quite some time. Remember the silver lining might be you find the right person and get married or you just stay single.
When a situation comes up in our lifetime, we shouldn’t think a bad situation is bad but think of it as a good thing because really if we think about it they’re stepping-stones to our destination. These stepping-stones that we may consider roadblocks make us stop and ask ourselves is this what we really want? Of course, this is a question that can have many answers and that’s because everyone has to answer this question every time a situation comes up.
You may be going through a situation that’s making you take a step back and ask is this what I really want? If you aren’t asking this question, then you either have already answered this question or your situation that caught you off guard is a good situation. Sometimes good situations do catch us off guard and make us ask the same question.
My hope for everyone is that you will have more good situations than bad situations. I want everyone to try to smile when you have both good and bad situations. I know it’ll be hard to smile through bad situations but if you do, you’ll find it’ll make it easier to get through your bad situation. It’s usually pretty easy to smile when you’re in a good situation but when you’re in a bad situation it’s not as easy.
Smiling through all situations that come our way will not only make us feel better and put us in a better mood. Smiling also makes other people want to be around us more.
In my opinion when you smile, I think you will find that people treat you better than when you aren’t smiling. So smile through both good and bad situations and you’ll go far. How far is up to you. If you smile through the bad then hopefully your reward will be that you have more good situations than bad situations. Also in my experience, I have found a smile will change your attitude from bad to good. Even when you’re in a really bad mood and/or just plain having a terrible day you may be asking? Especially smile when you’re in a terrible mood and/or just having a terrible day because it will not only change your attitude but people will notice the change in you.
Let me share a tip about smiling and that tip is even if you have to put a fake smile on your face to change people’s attitude toward you, you will find even a fake smile will help your attitude. How do I Know? I’ve put a fake smile on my face many times and it actually did change my attitude and how other people viewed me. What happened when I smiled? It was contagious and made people ask why are you smiling?
Remember, Smiling is contagious and does have benefits. What does family mean to me? I think this is a question we all ask ourselves several times in our lives. I ask myself this question everyday and come up with a different answer each day. I am just thankful that I have a family that is loving and supportive. Above are some pictures of family and yes some of those pictures will have pets in them because in our family our pets are part of the family. I hope you enjoy the pictures. You will notice I put in a picture of a ring and that is because my brother-in-law and his two girls went to a Steelers Game against Philadelphia Eagles and the guy who was working at the game felt sorry for my niece so he showed her his Superbowl ring and let her try it on. Cool Huh!?

I have 4 beautiful nieces and 1 handsome nephew. From oldest to youngest and their names are: Emily, Allison, Kaitlin, Alyssa and Dylan.
My faith gets me through each day and helps me overcome a lot in the situations that may come my way.
As you can see, Family means a lot to me and so do my pets. Also, the animals we outside and around our place mean a lot to my family and I too. You see, we feed these animals just like we feed our pets. Even though these outdoor animals aren’t our pets, they come around for food and water.
