Growing Up Without A Computer Or Cell Phone
INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME
Welcome Everyone to my blog, WELCOME TO CRYSTAL’S SITE(ORIGINALLY COUNTRY LIVING). I want to tell you about my experience growing up without a computer and/or a cell phone.
When I grew up believe it or not computers and cell phones weren’t a big thing. In fact, when I was growing up I remember playing with my two younger sisters who just happen to be fraternal twins with personalities that are like day and night and we played with the other children that lived on the street. I even remember walking up town to the little grocery store where you could even get penny candy for an afternoon. I lived in a time when you didn’t need to lock your doors. That changed when a rapist moved in across the street from us( that could be another post entirely.
WHAT IT WAS LIKE GROWING UP WITHOUT A COMPUTER OR A CELL PHONE
I have to be honest with you entirely, it wasn’t bad growing up without computers or cellphones in my opinion mostly because I had other children to play with from our street or I played with my sisters. I even remember going to slumber parties. Eventually my parents got one of those old-fashioned bag car phone by Trac Phone. I really never missed having one until I got older. That’s when I started asking my parents for a computer.
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I STOPPED ASKING FOR A COMPUTER
As I mentioned previously, when I became older meaning in my 20’s I started really wanting a computer. Every time I asked my mom would ask me what do you want a computer for? Each time I would tell her the same thing which was for e-mailing my friends. After years of not getting a computer or cell phone I stopped asking for the computer. I really never asked for a cell phone because I thought why have a cell phone when you already have a computer. You see, I thought I was thinking logically or so I thought. When I stopped asking for my computer I think my parents were relieved LOL and waited several years to see if I would start asking again. I didn’t. My parents eventually rewarded me for waiting several years.
WHEN I GOT MY COMPUTER AND MY REWARD
I never got my first computer until I was 40+ years old. OK I know some of you think you waited how long(gasp!!) I know to some of you that might seem like an eternity but was well worth it. Let me explain. You see just because I waited several years for my computer doesn’t mean I stopped wanting one. I just thought after asking for so long and not getting my computer I was never going to get one. Boy was I ever wrong. One Christmas, I opened all my small gifts first which is what I normally do unless I decide to change things up. I kept going over and over in my mind what my big gifts could be. It never crossed my mind it would be a computer and a computer case. I was so excited that I was jumping up out my chair and screaming thank you, thank you, thank you to my Mom and Dad and my youngest sister got me a computer case. If I would have opened the computer case first I would have known what the second gift was and probably wouldn’t have been excited either. I was thrilled to get a computer.
HOW LONG MY FIRST COMPUTER LASTED
My first computer which was an Acer computer and it was bought at Best Buy lasted me 3-4 years then it literally crashed. I couldn’t believe it. So I looked around for a second computer. Eventually found one sale at Staples.
HOW LONG MY SECOND COMPUTER LASTED
My second was an upgrade from my last computer. My second computer was bought at Staples too and was a Dell. It also was a Windows 8 and my first computer was a Windows 7. I eventually upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10( I got the free upgrade). My second computer eventually went after 3-4 years. Found out later that the motherboard on my computer went. The technological guy said when the motherboard goes that’s when you should buy a new computer because it costs more to fix than to buy a computer. And to think I just took it in because the cord wouldn’t hold a charge. Who would’ve thought something so simple would turn into something so difficult. I sure didn’t. Since I already had my computer they tried to pull off as much stuff as they were able to off my computer and put it on a flash drive. I got another computer that day with another upgrade.
HOW LONG MY THIRD COMPUTER LASTED
My third computer and hopefully my last is still working and running. I’ve had my computer for two years now and learning something new each day. When I bought my new computer which is a Lenovo ideapad 320S, it had Windows 10 pre-installed and other new things which I have yet to learn. I love my Lenovo computer.
ARE THOSE ADD ONS REALLY NECESSARY?
If you ever bought a computer and I think most of you have, then you know once you’ve chosen your computer they start asking you do you want to buy the extra add ons? A lot of people don’t buy them because they think I don’t really need this and believe me I’m guilty of thinking this too. When I bought my first add-on I never thought I was never going to use it. Guess what? I used it. It would’ve cost me an arm and a leg if I wouldn’t have had it. My computer was my Birthday/Christmas gift from my parents and they bought the extra add ons and McAfee Live Safe anti-virus to install on my computer. Hope I don’t need it but at least I have it in case something should happen.
CONCLUSION
In my opinion, before turning down the technological associate for add-ons that might save you money in the long run, think of how much it will cost you to fix that cord and/or computer and compare the costs. Trust me $100 for the cost of an add-on you may never use but what if something unexpected happens and you do need it. $100 will be like a drop in the bucket compared to what that cord or computer will cost you and trust me it will be more than $100. So my suggestion, GET THE ADD ONS THERE WORTH EVERY PENNY!!

Unfortunately, I’m here to tell you all I had to make some changes to my both of my WordPress sites since I just started getting Spammed/Trolled by a website I’m not even interested in.
CHANGES I MADE
- From now on, I will be approving/disapproving comments. Most comments will be approved. The only difference is they won’t be approved right away.
- I have Blacklisted 2 websites. This was a last resort.
WHY I MADE THE CHANGES
I made the changes because I got SPAMMED/TROLLED. This just started happening and I hope the 2 websites stop.

If you are a follower or regular reader, you most likely aren’t blacklisted. I hated going this way but it was the only way other going totally private. Types Of Bullying And The Possible Solutions To Stop Bullying
Introduction:
You Should Kill Yourself. You’re Weird. You’re Different. You’re Not Pretty. You’re Not Handsome. You Can’t Do That. Your Stupid. The list goes on and on. Got your attention? I hope so because with the way technology is now days bullying happens more than we think. Another thing we should consider is that boys aren’t the only ones that bully but girls bully kids too.
These phrases could be considered bullying. Which type of bullying? The phrases I have listed in the Introduction fall into the Verbal Bullying and Cyber-Bullying categories. Are these the only two types of bullying? Sadly no. In fact, there are six types of bullying that can happen. The six types of bullying are: Physical Bullying, Verbal Bullying, Relational Aggression, Cyber-Bullying, Sexual Bullying and Prejudicial Bullying. I will be taking a look at each type of bullying, Giving examples of each type of bullying and I will also give visual examples of each type of bullying too.
Types Of Bullying
Physical Bullying:
Physical Bullying is considered to be the most obvious form of bullying. Physical Bullying happens when the more popular kids are bigger, stronger and more aggressive than the unpopular kids. Examples of Physical Bullying are Kicking, Punching, Slapping, Shoving and Other physical attacks that occur. Unlike other types of bullying, Physical Bullying is the easiest type of bullying to identify.
Relational Aggression:
Relational Aggression is a sneaky type of bullying that usually goes unnoticed by parents and teachers. This type of bullying is sometimes referred to as emotional bullying. Relational Aggression is a type of social manipulation where the people who are the bullies try to hurt their peers or sabotage their social standing. Examples of Relational Aggression are: Being told they can’t be in a group, People spread rumors about them, People manipulate situations and They try to break confidences. The bully’s goal is to make themselves look good-by controlling or bullying another person.
If we take a look at both females and males, you will usually find that females use Relational Aggression more than males. A person on the receiving end of Relational Aggression Bullying is often teased, intimidated, insulted, excluded and ignored.
Bullying doesn’t just happen in schools but can happen in the workplace too. Kids as young as 2 years old can start to bully other kids. Why does bullying start so young and how does it develop? I learned that bullying is something that just doesn’t suddenly or mysteriously appear in young children. In fact, children bring with them a history of experiences with family, media and other children.
Cyber-Bullying:
Cyber-Bullying is when a person uses the internet, smart phone or other types of technology to target another person, threaten, harass or embarrass someone. Cyber-Bullies often say things they don’t have the courage to tell them face to face. Examples of Cyber-Bullying are: When a person sends nasty e-mails or text messages, Posting nasty and embarrassing pictures on social media, videos and websites.
Sexual Bullying:
Sexual Bullying is when a person or group of people targets someone sexually. Examples of Sexual Bullying are: Sexual Name Calling, Crude Comments, Vulgar Gestures, Uninvited Touching, Uninvited Sexual Advances and Pornographic Materials. In some cases Sexual Bullying can lead to sexual assault and possibly rape.
I know for a fact that this type of bullying actually does happen and to boys too not just girls. I know a teacher who knows a child that has had Sexual Bullying happen to him. I’m not naming the child or teacher due to privacy and security issues. But do note that this type of bullying happens more than you think. Also, this type of bullying is not just in schools but the workplace too.
Prejudicial Bullying:
Prejudicial Bullying is mostly between teens. It is based on race, religions and/or sexual orientations. It is sad to say this can take in all other types of bullying. When this type of bullying occurs it is often severe and could lead to hate crime.
6 Common Types Of Bullies
Bully Victims:
Bully Victims often rise up after being bullied. They’ll bully others weaker themselves because they have been bullied themselves. Their goal is to regain the power and sense of control in their lives. Other times the bully victim comes from a home life riddled with domestic violence or suffers abuse from an older sibling. In cases like these bullying is a learned behavior.
Popular Bullies:
Popular Bullies have big egos. Popular Bullies also have a group of supporters and/or followers. They are often confident and condescending towards others. In fact, Popular Bullies often feel a sense of entitlement that comes from their popularity, their size, their social status and their upbringing. Popular Bullies are sometimes the school’s star athlete and is often looked up to by others since they’re perceived as leaders.
Relational Bullies:
Relational Bullies are usually somewhat popular and enjoys deciding who is popular and who isn’t. Often times Relational Bullies usually only use Verbal and/or Emotional Bullying to control someone. Mean girls are considered to be Relational Bullies.
Serial Bullies:
A Serial Bully is systematic, controlled and calculated in their approach to bullying and they are often found in popular circles. However, adults such as parents, teachers and administrators usually have no idea what a Serial Bully is capable of because on the outside they may seem sweet and charming to authority figures but on the inside they can be very mean to others they don’t like. Examples of Serial Bullies are: They become fake friends to others and They are skilled at lying to get their way.
Group Bullies:
Group Bullies are either part of a clique or a group that just follows the leader just to belong. However, they usually act different when they’re alone even with the victim. Because children feel better when they’re in a group, they also feel less responsible because all their friends “are doing it”.
Indifferent Bullies:
Finally, I found in my research that Indifferent Bullies are unable to feel empathy. They often will appear, unfeeling, cold and have very little remorse for what they do. They get enjoyment out of seeing someone else suffer and getting disciplined. They are discouraged by punishment. Also they are usually brutal, cruel and mean and usually have psychological problems.
I have given you something to read and think about but I said in the title of my post that solutions were included. Below are some of my solutions that might help with bullying.
Solutions For Bullying:
- Don’t Start Bullying Anyone.
- Walk Away If A Bully Tries To Pick A Fight.
- Think Before You Post And Send.
- Make The Block Button Your Friend.
- Someone Starts Name-Calling Don’t Argue But Walk Away.
- Tell Your Teacher, Parents And In A Worse Case Scenario Tell The Police.
- Never Argue With A Bully.
There are plenty of more solutions and I’m sure you may be able to think of some but these solutions that are listed especially Number 7 Never Argue With A Bully, are some important solutions that might help.

My conclusion is very simple, if you think you see bullying happening do something about it and report it.

Choosing A Watch And Other Accessories To Go With Your Clothes
I received an e-mail from Jesse Miller and she told me that she was searching the web for information on choosing a watch when she saw a great post on my site. That post link she thought was so great was Cat Christmas Gifts and Giveaway .
She asked me if I would mention her Watch Site in one of my posts since I liked her site. Because she asked if I would share her link in one of my posts, She gave me the inspiration to write this post.
No I’m not the fashion police or a fashion expert. However, I do have 18 years of working at a department store. Working at a department store you certainly get an eye-opening experience working with the public, the people who are your co-workers and your bosses.
As we all know what clothes we wear are very important. Why? Let’s think about that for a few minutes. Whether you are going to an interview, Out with friends, Going out with your wife or significant other or maybe a Meeting with your Boss, you want to look your best. You certainly wouldn’t wear sweats and a sweatshirt if you want to look your best.
Just as clothes are important so are the accessories and jewelry you wear with your clothes. Wearing a necklace, rings, earrings, bracelet, anklet, toe-ring and of course your watch. What does accessories do for the clothing? Jewelry can not only make clothes stand out but it can make an outfit pop. A good example of how jewelry and accessories can help make our clothes look better is if you notice two people out for the evening one is wearing jewelry and one isn’t. Who’s outfit do you notice first? Is it the person who is wearing jewelry or is it the person who isn’t wearing jewelry? So I stress wearing jewelry and accessories do help the outfit. That also includes outerwear. Below are some pictures of outerwear and accessories to match.
As I’m sure you noticed, I mentioned wearing a watch. But what kind of watch are you going to wear? Are you going to wear a watch with a plastic and colorful band, A watch with a clear band, A watch made into a ring or necklace, A Stainless steel Band or my favorite The stretchy band on a Man’s watch. - What is the meaning of education? To me education is more than getting a degree or degrees at a college or colleges. Education to me can also be what you learn in life from the time you’re born to the time you die. You see there are many ways you can be educated so take advantage of all of them because you never know when you’ll need them.
- How did you create the name of your blog? When I created the name of my blog, I wanted it to be unique and original. I live way out in the country so I started with COUNTRY LIVING but then I got to thinking why not make it a little more personal and do a name that would welcome everyone to my site. So I came up with WELCOME TO CRYSTAL’S SITE(ORIGINALLY COUNTRY LIVING). I kept COUNTRY LIVING so that my followers that came when I had that name would stay.

I would like to start with a positive quote that may get some chuckles too.
I’m not really sure who said this quote but I’ve always liked it and it does bring positive vibes. The quote goes something like this: A smile will give you less wrinkles than what a frown will. MY BEAUTIFUL STORY:
I was in college and one of my professors took the class to hear Maya Angelou speak. After we listened to her speak we had the opportunity to ask questions and meet her. She was quite a lady. I learned a lot from her. I wrote a post called WHAT MEETING MAYA ANGELOU DID FOR ME .
I not only got to hear Maya Angelou speak but I got to meet her too. Boy was I excited. I learned lots just by listening to her.
One of the main things I learned from her and learned growing up is when someone puts you down smile at them and tell them you hope they have a great day. You will not only surprise them but you’ll find it’ll make your day better too. Also, remember that a good attitude is always better than a poor attitude.

- What is the most nice thing had said to you in your life? I have had several nice things said to me but the one that stands out is a professor that told me I’d never pass his class. I stayed and stuck his class out and after the semester was over he told me he was glad that I stuck his class out and he was happy for me. I remember this situation for that reason.
- What has been your most beautiful dream ever? I don’t really dream so I can’t answer this question.
- What is your biggest goal in life? To make people happy and live a happy, healthy and safe life.

INTRODUCTION:
At Christmas time most of us have had a candy cane or two at time or another. But have any of you ever considered what the colors of the red and white candy cane means? I have so I did some research and found The Legend Of The Candy Cane.
WHAT I FOUND AND WHAT IT MEANS:
The Legend of the candy cane is an incredible legend that means so much to a lot of us. Why does it mean so much? I’ve found that since each person is different, each person has a different reason. Whatever your reason may be I hope you believe in the Legend Of The Candy Cane.

Merry Blogmas Everyone: Day 21 – The First Day Of Winter (Winter Solstice 2017)
Today is December 21, 2017 and it’s also the start of Winter Solstice. For those of us who absolutely hate Winter well it’s here to stay for a few months so to be a little blunt, deal with it. Remember, even though today is the shortest day of the year the days get longer after today. So in reality, it’s not all bad.
We hear so much about the Winter solstice usually a day or two before it happens. But do we really understand how the Winter Solstice works. I researched this and found some explanation. I thought I’d show you what I found.
This is incredible information in my opinion. I hope you learn something from it and guess what? Those of you who have children and grandchildren you can can teach them something about the Winter Solstice and that’s something you can be proud of and happy that your child or grandchild is learning.
