APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS

DSCN0110Why do we say “April showers bring May flowers”? That is a good question. I researched it online and found a bunch of links to posts/articles about “April showers bring May flowers”. I will provide the links later. The one post/article I looked at is by weathersphere.com(Video Embedded).

“The entire saying goes something like this: “March winds and April showers bring May flowers and June bugs.”

“But April isn’t a rainy month across the United States. And flowers begin blooming a lot sooner than May in parts of the South.”

“So where did this saying come from and why is it so prevalent?”

“It turns out, the saying originates in the United Kingdom where it can be pretty soggy in the Spring.”

In another article/post, It states that “According to George Latimer Apperson’s “Dictionary of Proverbs” we can trace the phrase “April showers bring May flowers” to an 1886 saying- “March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers”- which might have deeper roots in a 1610 poem.” The link for this post/article is April showers bring May flowers.

As you can see,  each article has their own opinion
